How Andrea Went from Side Hustle to 2,000 Students in Just 6 Months
Posted on Sep 04, 2025It started with four simple words: "What about my friends?"
Andrea's daughter came home frantic. Art was being removed from her school. No more daily creative time, no more colorful afternoons. As any loving mom would, Andrea started doing art activities at home to fill that gap.
But then her daughter asked the question that changed everything: "What about my friends?"
"The educator in me and wanting everybody to have the same opportunities..." Andrea explains. That's when she knew she had to do something bigger.
Fourteen years later, Andrea Jones Davis has transformed that mother's instinct into a thriving mobile craft lab called Toot Teach and Roll. With a background in technology and education, teaching everything from kindergarten to training administrators, she'd always had "a passion for art, whether it was doodling... I just love it."
But last October, everything changed. She took the leap from her full-time job to make Toot Teach and Roll her main focus.
The results? From January to June, she's serviced over 2,000 students.

The Googling Struggle
Before joining the CCC Academy, Andrea faced the challenges every craft teacher knows too well:
"Trying to figure out what to offer... everything that I liked was not necessarily the best for my clients," she explains. "Googling, really depending on Google searches, depending on Facebook community groups... just depending on the internet to provide a curriculum."
Sound familiar? That constant searching and uncertainty kept her from reaching her full potential.
She was struggling with:
- Pricing her classes appropriately
- Finding and organizing supplies
- Creating consistent, tested lesson plans
- Building sustainable systems
The Turning Point
Then Andrea discovered Creative Crafting Club through social media. "I watched one of your videos and... it was like, hey, we do it all for you, we've done it, it's been tested."
What sealed the deal? "I saw the number of followers you had, I saw the number of people that were in your club... I don't have to think about it. The lessons are already developed."
That's when everything shifted.
The Explosion
Andrea joined the CCC Academy over three years ago, but it was when she went full-time that the real magic happened.
In just six months of focused effort, she's achieved:
- 2,000+ students served across communities
- 8 school district partnerships for summer programs
- 400 students in one week with expanded program options
- Multiple revenue streams from $7-$30 per participant
- A second mobile lab with integrated technology
- Audio/video storytelling capabilities
"Last week we serviced about 400 students, and we gave them the options of five art projects... they were able to choose what they wanted to do."
The Systems That Scale
What makes Andrea's success sustainable isn't just volume, it's the systems:
Volunteer & Staff Recruitment: "We solicit educators, retired educators, community leaders... we say come have fun with us, come play with us."
Efficient Setup: "We meet an hour before and talk about different roles and responsibilities."
Proven Materials: Using the Creative Crafting Club’s curriculum lessons, "we blow those lessons up into a one-pager, so we do 11 by 17 and each student gets their own guide."
Community Impact: She even started a foundation to offer free workshops in areas that need assistance.
The Freedom Formula
"I've struggled with work-life balance," Andrea admits. Going full-time with proven systems changed everything:
"It has really given me the opportunity to focus more on the administrative side, the well-being of Andrea... I don't have to search supplies, I don't have to search all of these different sites, just going to that one place."
The tech overwhelm disappeared. The constant googling stopped. Her dream took flight.
Her Hard-Won Advice
After 14 years in the business, Andrea's advice is crystal clear:
"Find a support system... you can't figure it out all by yourself. Stay consistent. Don't try to start so large... don't give up."
And practically: "Don't overbuy supplies in the beginning—buy them as needed."
The Challenge Ahead
Even with all this success, Andrea has one goal she's working toward: "I have challenged myself to do the 30-day challenge to really get that monthly crafting club up and running."
That's the beauty of having proven systems: you can keep growing and challenging yourself.
