From Feeling Desperate For Some Freedom to Doing Things the Way SHE Wants to Do Them

Posted on Jun 23, 2022

After working jobs with no flexibility, having to do everything just like her boss told her to, Camille was desperate for some independence and freedom to do things the way SHE wanted to do them.

Then she started her kids crafting club and everything changed.

You can get started just like Camille did with the Launch Your Club Coaching Week!

The Coaching Week will be kicking off on Thursday. For the last time this year!! Don't miss out, click to learn more and sign up up.

She is loving every minute of working with the kids, she has a little “pep in her step”, and she gets to spend every day running her club on her own terms.

“When you work a job, you have to do things exactly how other people tell you to do it. You never get to do things the way you want to do them. This, for me, is the place where I get to do what I want. Simple as that. Freedom is a real thing, you know.”

Camille has taken this freedom and passed it onto the kids in her club, allowing them the flexibility to do things how THEY want to do them.

“They get a kind of a strength from the class, because the parents are there trying to make them do it better, and I back the kids and tell them ‘just let them do it how they want!’ And once the parents just leave them at the table, they are free to explore and do whatever they want.”

It is so common in the world of arts & crafts for parents and teachers to want to take over and ensure that the kids are doing things perfectly, but what Camille instils in her students is the message that ‘it doesn’t need to be perfect, it just needs to be fun!’

Camille runs her arts & crafts club as a side hustle and sets her tables up inside a boutique a couple times a week.

When she first started out, she struggled to get return customers, but she persevered and now has between 4 and 11 kids per class.

When it comes to planning her lessons, Camille uses the done-for-you STEAM-based lesson plans provided inside the CCC Academy membershipOn the first page of each lesson plan there is an outline of which important super skills the kids will be developing during the crafting process. She teaches her classes with these super skills in mind and this gives her confidence to speak to the kids about why they’re doing certain steps along the process.

“When I’m approaching a craft for any given week, I read the handouts and I work backwards from the super skills to understand exactly what the kids are supposed to be getting out of it, then I can really do the class and look like some authority figure to them, cause then I really feel like I know what I’m doing. I can make sentences because I know why we’re doing something, and I just seem more prepared and I feel more competent.”

The super skills that Camille teaches in her crafting classes help to future proof her students for jobs that they may have one day that haven’t even been invented yet. Everywhere around us new opportunities and careers are popping up that didn’t exist a decade ago: block chain engineers, Youtube content creators, mobile app developers, AI analysts, autonomous vehicle designers… the list goes on! Think about what this list will look like 10 years from now… That’s what fostering super skills is all about.

Having only started a few short months ago, Camille’s club is already thriving. She has return customers, the kids have a ball in her classes, and her club is set to grow from strength to strength in the months to come.

Camille…

  • loves what she does
  • runs her club on her own terms
  • instils values of independence and confidence in her students
  • and helps them to develop important super skills

P.S. How much freedom do you currently have in your job? We’d love to hear from you. Pop us a message in the comments.
