A New Year Won’t Start Your Craft Club, This Will
Posted on Dec 11, 2025There’s something magical about a new start. The fresh plans, the hopeful energy, the feeling that this is finally going to be your year to create the kids' craft club you have been thinking about for so long.
But here’s what often happens. Time passes, other priorities take over, and the dream stays just a dream. You tell yourself you'll start "when the time is right" or "when you feel more ready."
The good news? You're not lacking motivation. You’re just lacking clarity.
The Power of Getting Specific
In Atomic Habits, James Clear shares a study from Great Britain about building a weekly exercise habit:
Group 1 tracked their workouts.
Group 2 learned about the benefits of exercise.
Group 3 tracked, learned, and also wrote down their exact plan, the day, time, and place they would exercise.
Everybody wanted to exercise.
Everybody had motivation.
But only one group made a real plan.
The goal was to exercise once per week.
Results:
Only 35 to 38% of people in Groups 1 and 2 reached that goal.
But 91% of Group 3 reached it.
What changed?
Not desire. Not commitment. Not willpower.
The change was clarity.
Writing down exactly when and where they would exercise removed all the guessing and delaying. There was no more “I’ll do it sometime this week.” There was a decision already made.
Tuesday at 5 PM at the gym.
Saturday morning in the park.
No debate needed. The choice was set.
This is exactly why so many dreams stall, including starting a craft club.
Not because you don’t want it enough, but because without clear, specific steps, the dream stays “someday” instead of becoming something that actually gets scheduled and started.
From "I Want To" to "I Will"
Right now, your craft club dream might sound like this:
- "I’m thinking of starting a kids' craft club"
- "I'll run classes when I can"
- "I need to plan some activities"
These are beautiful intentions, but they're foggy. And foggy intentions get lost in the chaos of daily life.
What if…
Instead of: "I’m thinking of starting a kids' craft club"
Try: "I will download the CCC Beginners Checklist today at 7PM to get a step-by-step roadmap to start my club."
Instead of: "I'll run classes when I can"
Try: "I will run my kids' craft club every Wednesday at 3PM at my nearest school."
Instead of: "I need to plan some activities"
Try: "I will choose my first 3 craft projects on Tuesday at 7PM by downloading free craft lesson plans from the CCC blog."
See the difference? There's no decision to make when the moment arrives. You simply follow your predetermined plan.
The Magic of Repetition
When you assign your craft club tasks a specific time and place, something remarkable happens. After enough repetition, you'll start to feel an urge to do the task at that time, even if you can't explain why.
You'll find yourself automatically thinking about craft club planning on Tuesday evenings. You'll get excited about Wednesday afternoons because that's when your class happens. The habit becomes part of your routine.
Your Challenge This Week
Don't let this be another article you read and forget. Take action right now:
- Choose ONE action you need to take to start or grow your craft club
- Complete this sentence: "I will [specific action] on [day] at [time] in/at [location]"
- Write it down somewhere you'll see it every day, or set a reminder on your phone
- Follow through when that moment arrives: no decisions needed, just action
For example:
- "I will explore what CCC Academy offers and join the waitlist on December 19th at 8PM on my laptop."
- "I will write a list of local schools to contact on January 7th at 10AM in my home office.”
- “I will set up meetings at schools on January 12th at 10AM from my cellphone.”
The Truth About Success
The craft club leaders who succeed aren't the ones with the most motivation. They're the ones with the most clarity.
They know exactly when they're planning lessons. They know exactly where they're sourcing materials. They know exactly what time their classes run each week.
They've removed the guesswork, the decision fatigue, and the endless "I'll do it later."
Your 2026 Starts Now
This is your year. Stop waiting for inspiration to strike. Stop hoping you'll "just remember" to work on your craft club dreams. Make a plan. Get specific. Take action.
Your kids' craft club isn't going to build itself, but with clarity and implementation, you'll be amazed at how quickly your dream becomes reality.
What's your first implementation intention for your craft club? Write it down: "I will _____ on _____ at _____ in _____."
Here's to your most creative, purposeful, and profitable year yet! 🎨
