Do you dream of sharing your love of arts and crafts with kids and making some extra money in the process?

You’ve come to the right place!

We’ve created a "Launch Your Kit in Just 4 Days" mini course that will show you the basic steps to get started with your kids craft kit business.

It’ll help to answer thoughts that might be running through your head like…

❌ Wondering where to start

❌ Overthinking what to put inside your kit

❌ Lacking the confidence to start

Ready? Let's get started!

To start a kids craft kit business there are four important milestones you need to achieve

Milestone #1: Defining Who Your Kits Are For

Nothing in your business matters more than your customers.

And that’s why it’s one of the first things you need to get crystal clear on: who is my ideal customer? Who are the people that are going to love my kits, who are going to buy them again and again and again?

I know what you might be thinking…. My ideal customers are all parents! Because I know how important arts and crafts are and allll parents need to get their kids to do arts and crafts.

Although we totally agree that all kids need to do arts & crafts, from a business point of view, if you try to target everyone you will reach no one!

Because the following is true: the riches are in the niches!

That means that the narrower your focus is, the greater your chance of success will be.

By targeting a specific niche your marketing messaging can be highly targeted.

This results in much higher sales because you can talk directly to your ideal customer and grab their attention and they’ll KNOW your kit was MADE FOR THEM.

So what does that mean practically? It means taking a look at:

  • What age group do you want to cater for?
  • What does that age group LOVE? What are they passionate about?
  • Who is the person who’s going to be paying for your craft kits? Perhaps she’s a toddler mom or a tween dad - is she or he crafty? What is important to them? What do they want their kids to be spending their time on?

Lots to think about, right? That’s ok… We’ve got a super fun Sticky Note Challenge inside our Mini Course that will show you how to narrow down your niche in 3 easy steps.

Let’s move on to...

Milestone #2: Planning Your First 3 Kits

  • How do you know your kits will be successful?
  • What if your kits don’t sell and you sit with extra stock?

Don’t worry - we’ve been there! We had all these questions swirling around in our heads when we first started our kit business too.

That’s why we’ve decided to make it easy for you and provide you with our FREE tried-and-tested art kit blueprint - a recipe for success!

We’re also including TONS of kit examples to help you get those creative juices flowing.

We’ve also got BONUS done-for-you instruction templates included in the Mini Course that you can simply print out and pop into your kits (saving you tons of time). You’re welcome!

Milestone #3: Deciding on a Name

Once you've decided on a name for your kit business, the whole journey starts to feel more real and things start moving quickly.

The name of your club is the first thing your potential customers will hear, so you'll have to put some effort into finding a fun and appropriate one.

The first step in picking a name is to brainstorm and jot down ideas as they pop up in your head.

You’ll have to think along the lines of anything to do with kids, imagination, or creativity and also try to keep in mind your specific area of focus (if you have one). Are you focusing mainly on art? Then think along the lines of paint blobs and colourful crayons. Are you going to offer craft parties? Then think along the lines of cake, clowns and balloons.

To help you brainstorm and decide on the perfect name for your club or kit, we've included a list of creative words in the "Launch Your Kit in Just 4 Days" mini course that will assist you in the process. Reading through this list is a great way to trigger a creative spark. It’s also good to add words to that list that resonate with you and the type of club you want to run.

 Milestone #4: Your Soft Launch

The fourth and final milestone of setting up your kit business is to take the leap and do a soft launch (also known as a guinea pig launch) for your first kit!

Having a soft launch is a majorly important part of the process.

It allows you to test the waters and get feedback from your ideal customer:

  • What did they LOVE about your kit?
  • What did they ignore or push aside? (You’d be surprised!)
  • What suggestions do they have for how you can improve your kit?
  • What ideas do they have for the next one?

Your soft launch is also the perfect opportunity for you to take pictures and videos for marketing.

Take a video while you pack your kit to show your potential customers what’s included. Then capture the smile on your guinea pig’s face as he or she unpacks your kit and discovers what’s inside.

Top tip: create 1 kit at first, use it for your soft launch, take pictures and videos for marketing, take pre orders and only THEN go out to get the supplies for the rest. Otherwise you might end up with extra stock that doesn’t sell.
