From Uncertain to Unstoppable: How Suzanne Built a Club That's Reshaping How Kids Learn
Posted on Apr 16, 2026She spent 25 years in Spain watching kids struggle with English the traditional way. Now she's changing that, one craft session at a time.
Suzanne runs Art Inglés in Granada, teaching STEM-based crafts to kids aged 2 to 12, helping them build real skills and practice English without even realizing they're doing it.
The moments she used to wonder if she'd ever find her footing? She doesn't wonder anymore.
She works the hours she chooses, around the life she wants.
She had no business experience, no classroom of her own, and no guarantee it would work.
Here's how she built it anyway:
Where She Started
Life before Art Inglés was uncertain. Suzanne had been spending time back in the United States with family, and when she returned to Spain, work was hard to come by. So she took a teaching contract in Uzbekistan for two months to earn enough to get back on her feet.
When she came back, she used that money to invest in herself and joined the Creative Crafting Club.
That decision changed everything.

The Idea Behind Art Inglés
Suzanne had spent 20 years working in the Spanish education system watching children struggle with English. The way it was taught, through books, vocabulary lists, and exercises, made kids switch off.
She wanted to do something different.
"I just wanted to have them listen to English for an hour and a half constantly without even thinking that they're learning. They just have fun."
She started in a park with friends and their children. The kids loved it. The parents loved it. And Suzanne knew she was onto something.

Where She Is Now
She currently has around 10 students, teaching from a private home where neighbors' children come together, and at a nursery school she loves.
The foundations are solid and the results are already speaking for themselves. Kids who once wouldn't speak are talking to her in English, and the progress in their crafts is visible every single class.

What It's Given Her
She's creating consistently, challenging her brain, and building something that is entirely hers. More than that, she can see a future.
"I see a future that can only grow. Before, I didn't know what I was going to do."

Her Advice
Don't wait until everything is in place.
"Just do one class, anywhere. Figure out what to do next. Just little things every day. You have to just do it."
Suzanne started in a park with a handful of kids and no plan beyond showing up. Now she's building something that matters.
