Have you ever wished you could start a small, flexible creative business and do what you love every day?

In today’s video, I’m going to give you our top 5 reasons why you should start your own kids arts & crafts club.

Watch the video or read the written version below.

A few years ago I made the decision to act on my dream of running my own kids crafting club.

I closed my thriving architectural practice and took the leap (yup, you read correctly!)

I knew this decision would change my life as it would be less stressful, more fulfilling and allow me more time with my son.

I can’t begin to explain the positive impact that starting my own kids crafting club has had on my and my family’s life.

When Stefanie and I started teaching other ladies how to start their own clubs I could see how it changed their lives too.

I think of Somien. She’s a mom of 3 boys, she used to be a stay-at-home-mom and now she runs her own crafting club. In 2020 she moved her classes online due to the lockdown which enabled her to continue serving her students via live videos.

She shared with me that she doesn’t consider this work, she sets up her class times so that her boys can take part, it's fun and she finds preparing for the classes very relaxing!

After the classes she encourages the parents of her students to share photos of their kids' crafts and it gives her great pride and enjoyment to see what they come up with.

So there’s a reason why I am so passionate about helping others start and grow their own kids crafting clubs - it’s because I see the transformation and positive impact that it can have on so many lives.

Today I want to share 5 key reasons why you should start your own kids crafting club today.

 1. It requires very little startup cost

Unlike starting most new businesses you don’t need a lot of money to get going. In fact, this is one of the top 4 myths about starting a kids crafting club.

Want to know our secret to running a low cost crafting club?

It’s using A LOT of recycled materials! Upcycling is a crafting club owners best friend!

If you haven't yet, you can grab our free recycled items checklist in which we share our complete list of recycled items that work best for kids crafting.

Other than that you will need to buy some basic arts and crafts supplies. If you are smart with the supplies that you use, then it can last a really long time.

Start small, don’t buy everything upfront, use what you have at home and only buy the supplies you need for your first classes and buy more later as you grow.

We’ve added a list of the supplies that we use in every class on the guide as well so be sure to grab that to get an idea of the essentials that you’ll need.

 2. You get to work from home and be flexible

You can run your entire kids crafting club from home, have classes around your dining room table, or perhaps you have a spare room that you could convert into a crafting studio, or you could even do online classes from home. There are so many options!

The great thing about being your own boss is that you can determine your own schedule. You make the rules and you set your own hours, so you can plan your schedule around your kids and what works for you and your family and even involve your family in your business!

 3. You get to be creative and have fun every day!

I can tell you one thing: running a kids crafting club and working with kids is NEVER boring!

For me, one of the most fulfilling things is to get to know the kids' wonderful little personalities. They get so excited to tell you their latest news and all the wonderful ideas that they have for their craft during the lesson. I always think that my students are way more creative than I can ever be - their crafts are amazing!

I love taking photos and sharing them with parents after class. There is a certain unobstructed freedom that kids have, they express themselves without the fear and limitations that we as adults have. I always tend to want to paint inside the lines. Kids will challenge you and teach you how to be free, paint outside those lines, be creative and just have fun!

 4. You make money $$$

Everyone has their own idea of what success looks like. For me, freedom and flexibility form a big part of my personal success... but there is also money to be made by teaching arts & crafts to kids. I sure ain't doing this just for fun, this is not a hobby for me, this is a legit business and it can be for you too.

5. You can host classes online, in person, or sell kits

The sky's the limit for creatives like us!

We’ve been so inspired by our members who have been able to successfully pivot from teaching in person to continue serving their students online. Did you know that there are 1.73 Billion (yes I said Billion) people on Facebook daily!? There is a huge opportunity to teach online.

That is one of the big misconceptions that many people have, and sadly some don’t ever take the next step because of this misconception - they think 'mmm I can do this but there is already an art lady in my town'. Trust me there is PLENTY of business for us all.

Exciting huh?

If you'd like to get started teaching online but you're not sure how, check out our guide to start teaching online classes, quickly - without fancy equipment!

Not sure whether teaching online is for you? You can check out the alternatives - teaching in person and selling creative kits.
